The project supports the implementation of Slovenia’s urban and spatial policy objectives, particularly by facilitating the transfer of good practices and creating synergies between spatial and urban development measures at different levels of governance.
Its activities provide information, communication and training on European, regional and national urban development initiatives, as well as examples of good practices and projects implemented at regional and local levels.
Across its different phases, the programme has included national and international conferences, study visits, support for cities and municipalities interested in participating in URBACT, and the collection and presentation of Slovenian good practices.

The project has three main objectives:
to support the implementation of Slovenia’s urban and spatial policy objectives by transferring good practices and creating synergies between spatial and urban development measures at different levels of governance;
to disseminate information about European, regional and national initiatives and activities related to urban development;
to inform and train stakeholders through examples of good practices and regional and local projects that contribute to the implementation and achievement of spatial and urban policy objectives.
The programme includes an annual study visit and national and international conferences. These activities create opportunities to discuss current issues, explore emerging trends, exchange good practices and identify responses to the challenges facing cities today.
In this phase of the project, a good practice will also be transferred at the national level through an intensive one-year training programme for selected municipalities.
We will continue collecting Slovenian good practices through the Cities-to-Cities initiative and providing support to cities and municipalities interested in participating in the URBACT programme.

The project’s main objectives were:
to support the implementation of Slovenia’s urban and spatial policy objectives by transferring good practices and creating synergies between spatial and urban development measures at different levels of governance;
to disseminate information about European, regional and national initiatives and activities related to urban development;
to inform and train stakeholders through examples of good practices and regional and local projects contributing to the implementation and achievement of spatial and urban policy objectives.
The programme included annual national and international conferences. These provided a space to discuss current issues, explore trends, exchange good practices and seek responses to the most pressing contemporary challenges facing cities.
We also continued collecting Slovenian good practices through the Cities-to-Cities initiative and supported cities and municipalities interested in participating in the URBACT programme.

The project’s main objective was to support public policymakers at all levels—particularly the local level—in managing space in a way that created cities and settlements in which everyone had equal opportunities and could exercise their fundamental rights.
The programme was based on transferring experience and knowledge between cities and municipalities. Participants took part in study visits in Slovenia and abroad, where they could learn directly from the experience of other cities.
The programme also included an annual international conference. It created a space for discussing current issues, exploring trends and identifying responses to the major challenges facing Slovenian cities.
Individual support was provided to cities and municipalities interested in participating in the URBACT programme.

Supporting the implementation of urban policies and the URBACT programme, 2016–2017
We supported the Ministry in implementing Slovenia’s urban and spatial policy objectives, particularly by facilitating the transfer of good practices developed through the URBACT programme.
The project aimed to encourage the transfer of urban development practices and integrated urban policy approaches into the Slovenian context.
In addition to supporting municipalities in learning from and adopting international practices, we assisted Slovenian municipalities and other eligible organisations in preparing project proposals for URBACT calls.
We also supported territorial dialogue to promote sustainable urban development and carried out information and communication activities, including events with international experts and the promotion of urban development programmes and projects.
