At IPoP – Institute for Spatial policies, we are leading the preparation of the Housing Strategy for the Municipality of Kranjska Gora, which will tackle the key challenges of housing accessibility and improve the quality of life for all residents. The project, running from November 2024 to October 2025, takes a comprehensive approach to analysing housing needs and designing solutions that will make it easier for young people and other residents to secure a home in their local community.
What is the aim of the project?
By preparing the Housing Strategy, we are helping the Municipality of Kranjska Gora to:
Why is housing so important?
Housing is the foundation of a stable community. It enables people to stay in their home town, build their future, and contribute to local economic development. In Kranjska Gora, however, high levels of tourism increase pressure on the housing market, making access to housing particularly difficult-especially for young people.
This is why the strategy is essential for improving housing affordability, supporting sustainable development, and strengthening the quality of life in the municipality.
How are we preparing the strategy?
The development of the strategy is structured into three key steps:
How are we involving the community?
The strategy will only be successful with active participation from residents. At IPoP, we therefore organise public discussions, workshops, surveys, and interviews to gather the views, ideas, and needs of the community. Their involvement will be crucial in shaping a strategy that reflects the real challenges faced by residents.
